absolutely mint condition! Well, "mint" apart from the foam has perished. Heres a parts sheet from 1978 for the akg k140s When you listen to them mike dont try to compare them to modernĪkg,s, they have good p,r,a,t and tonality though. I will post some pictures of them on here very soon. Mike If you need the original k140 cable, pm me and i will send you it as i dont need it any more.
I have recabled mine with kimber pbj with a new neutrik plug, new capsules and pads, new elastics, new open backs (they were closedīack to begin with) and new akg plates both sides plus 2 damping rings from the akg k240 (felt) so they actually look like new phones now and i am burning them in for now. The pads maybe a bit worn or flattish, if you pull them off (glued) there is four holes at the back off the pads i just sealed them withĪ drop of superglue on each one and left for a couple of hours to dry now they stay up, then i ordered a pair of k240 foam inserts and cut them to shape and put them on the cups glue the pads then this will trap the foam insert, dont push on the pads or they will collapse.
The elastics will have probably gone too, i replaced mine with new elastics (akg k240) as the original ones are no longer available and Not the inner ring where the swivel joint is connected (2mm).
The foam around the inside of the capsules will have perished, butĪll you use is a thin strip of open cell foam inside the outer ring and They use sextett drivers and are easy to take apart as the driver is in a capsule with pad and fixing all in one. The ones you have are the open back ones, they are from around
